Prajna Vaibhavam : MBA Batch 2025–27 – Group Discussion Event (Session-4)

The Department of Management Studies organized the fourth session of Prajna Vaibhavam (PV) for the MBA Batch 2025–27, marking an engaging continuation of the academic journey on Friday, 19th December 2025. The session was conducted as a Group Discussion (GD) activity aimed at fostering critical thinking, effective communication, and collaborative learning among first-year students.

The event commenced with the Master of Ceremony, Ms. Hena Digal (I MBA – Section B), who extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries, including Dr. P. S. Aithal, Director, PIM, Prof. MR. Vasudeva, Retired director of Mangalore International Airport, Professor Emeritus, PIM, Dr. Diana Saldanha (PV Coordinator), faculty members including Dr. Bharathi Karanth and Dr. Bharath V, non-teaching staff, and all participants. An inspiring message encouraging students to break boundaries and pursue their dreams set an energizing tone for the session.

The formal welcome address was delivered by Ms. Deeksha (I MBA – Section B), following which the program moved into the main GD rounds. Ms. Niriksha (I MBA – Section B) efficiently served as the timekeeper, clearly outlining the 10-minute discussion format and the feedback procedure. The panel of judges consisted of Prof. MR Vasudeva and Prof. Venkatesh Shetty (PV Coordinator).

A total of four groups participated each sharing well-reasoned viewpoints on contemporary topics:

Group M

Topic:Data Privacy & Regulation in the Digital Age”.

The team explained the importance of data privacy & regulation in the digital age and how to safeguards financial details of organization, personal records of individual from cybercriminals.

Group N

Topic:Climate Change and Its Impact: How serious is the threat, and what measures should governments take?”.

The team discussed highlighted climate change as a serious global threat affecting ecosystems, health, and economies and what are the measures can government take to prevent climate change.

Group O

Topic:Are we becoming too sensitive a society?”.

The group discussion focused on whether modern society is becoming overly sensitive to opinions, criticism, and different viewpoints

Group P

Topic:Freebies before elections – Good or bad for economy”.

The group discussion explored how pre-election freebies can provide short term relief to citizens and also how it strain government finances in the long run.

Each group demonstrated commendable preparation, teamwork, and clarity of thought throughout the discussion. The judges provided valuable feedback, appreciating the students’ enthusiasm and encouraging them to continue improving their GD skills.

The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Anusha Shetty (I MBA – Section B), who expressed gratitude to the Director, faculty members, judges, participants, and organizers for making the second session of Prajna Vaibhavam both meaningful and enriching.

The event, held in PV Hall, PIM, successfully achieved its objective of fostering analytical thinking, communication skills, and confidence among first-year MBA students. It marked a strong continuation of the PV initiative and set a positive tone for the academic and professional development activities planned for the year.
