
The PIM Alumni Association in collaboration with Poornakash: The Training and Placement Cell, Poornaprajna Institute of Management, Udupi organised a One Day Workshop on “Research Skills for Future Business Leaders” on 7th August 2025 at the PV Hall of the institute.

The programme began at 9.30 am with Ms. Medha Prabhu (2nd MBA) compering the inaugural session. The dignitaries on the dais were Dr. P. S. Aithal (Director, PIM), Dr. Praveen Kumar (Chief Guest and Resource Person), Dr. Diana Saldanha (Faculty Coordinator – Alumni Association) and Prof. Venkatesh Shetty (Faculty Coordinator – Poornakash).
The programme commenced unveiling of the new logo of PIM Alumni association by the Chief Guest. This was followed by a formal floral welcome, wherein Mr. Himal Kumar (2nd MBA) extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries and the gathering. Mr. P. Abhishek (2nd MBA) then introduced the Chief Guest. The workshop was formally inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp, symbolising the dissemination of knowledge.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Praveen Kumar, Associate Professor, Manipal School of Commerce and Economics, MAHE and alumnus of the 2006–08 batch, highlighted the importance of cultivating a research-oriented mindset among future business leaders and introduced the participants to practical techniques in applied research.

Dr. P. S. Aithal presented a memento to Dr. Praveen Kumar as a token of gratitude prior to delivering his presidential address, in which he emphasised the relevance of research skills in managerial decision-making. The inauguration ceremony concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by the faculty coordinator of the alumni association, Dr. Diana Saldanha.

The One-Day workshop was aimed at helping MBA students understand the relevance and application of research techniques in business management. Sessions focused on problem identification, research design, data collection methods, and interpretation of results. Both first and second year MBA students actively participated in the workshop. The interactive nature of the event helped students clarify their doubts and enhanced their understanding of key research concepts.

The workshop received generous support from KMV Consulting LLP, who sponsored the successful conduct of the event. The institute gratefully acknowledges their contribution and continued encouragement.

During the noon session, after the conclusion of the workshop, Prof. Shivanand Bhandarkar, the faculty coordinator of Poornakash presented a floral felicitation to the alumnus Dr. Praveen Kumar as a gesture of appreciation for his valuable contribution. The participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity and requested more such workshops in future. PIM remains committed to strengthening student–alumni interaction and fostering meaningful engagement through such initiatives.
