The Finance Forum of Poornaprajna Institute of Management organized a guest lecture titled “From Campus to Banking: A PIM Alumnus’s Journey into the Banking Sector.” The session aimed to provide students with real-world insights into careers in the banking sector, sharing practical experiences, challenges, and the role of banking in national economic development.
The session commenced with a warm welcome by Ms. Shrilaxmi, a second-year MBA student, who took charge as the Master of Ceremony. Ms. Chaithra, also a second-year MBA student, formally welcomed the Chief Guest, Mr. Girish Aithal, who currently serves as a Senior Manager at Bank of Baroda, along with Mr. Venkateshwaralu, Joint Manager at Bank of Baroda. The dignitaries were honored with floral greetings by the Director, Dr. P.S. Aithal, and student representatives Mr. Sharoon and Ms. Shivani.
Ms. Ashwini delivered an informative introduction of Mr. Girish Aithal, highlighting his inspiring journey from being a school teacher to an MBA student at PIM, and later, securing a role in Vijaya Bank (which merged with Bank of Baroda). He is not only a successful banker but also a poet and orator, who actively supports PIM’s alumni and literary initiatives.
Dr. P.S. Aithal addressed the gathering with motivating words, emphasizing the importance of alumni in the academic and professional development of current students. Mr. Girish Aithal then delivered a powerful and insightful lecture on his journey from the campus to the banking sector. He shared his real-life experiences in the banking industry, discussed the various roles and responsibilities within public sector banks, and explained the importance of banking in driving economic growth. He encouraged students to explore opportunities in the public banking sector and provided valuable guidance on how to prepare for such careers.
Following the lecture, students engaged in an interactive question-and-answer session, which was lively and informative. As a gesture of gratitude, Dr. P.S. Aithal presented mementos to Mr. Girish Aithal and Mr. Venkateshwaralu. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Puneeth, a second-year MBA student, who appreciated the valuable presence and guidance provided by the guests. The lecture left the students motivated and better informed about potential career paths in the banking industry.
