Inauguration of the HR Forum 2024 and Colloquium on “Know Thyself- Mind Matters”

 

The inauguration of the HR Forum (PIM) and colloquium on “Know Thyself- Mind Matters” jointly organized by Dr. A.V. Baliga Memorial Hospital, Udupi, Poornaprajna- Rotary Manipal Centre for Social Empowerment, Udupi, HR Forum PIM and Karnataka Bank, Mangalore on 30th of January 2024 in Prajna Vaibhavam Hall, PIM.

The event began at 10.15 am with a Prayer Song by Ms. Navya Prabhu and Ms. Sharanya (2nd year MBA, HR). Prof. Diana Saldanha, the coordinator of the HR forum delivered the welcome address which was followed by a prelude to the programme by Dr. Krishna Kothai, Director PRMCSE, Udupi.

The guest speakers for the colloquium Dr. P.V. Bhandary was introduced to the gathering by Ms. Harshaprada (2nd year MBA, HR) and Rtn. Dr. Virupaksha Devaramane was introduced by Ms. Sameeksha Jogi ((2nd year MBA, HR). Rtn. Dr. Shubha H.S, Nodal Officer, PRMCSE, Udupi and Rtn. Sripathi, President, Rotary Club, Manipal addressed the gathering and conveyed their best wishes for the event.

The HR forum was formally inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the esteemed dignitaries, Ms. Navya Prabhu and Ms. Priya Hebbar the student co-ordinators for HR Forum and Mr. Rahul the student representative of HR forum also took part in lighting the lamp.

The colloquium titled “Know Thyself- Mind Matters” focused on the importance of being in touch with our emotions and managing stress. Dr. P.V Bhandari, Reputed Psychiatrist, Director, Dr. A.V. Baliga Memorial Hospital, Udupi, the Guest of honour and resource person for the day touched upon the detrimental effects of various kinds of addiction to the individual and society at large. Rtn. Dr. Virupaksha Devaramane, Reputed Psychiatrist and Award Winning Writer, Guest of Honour and resource person for the second session spoke about the importance of mental health for students and shared several practical tips for dealing with stress and peer pressure.

Dr. Bharath V, Director, PIM Udupi, the Chaired the event and delivered his presidential remarks highlighting the role of mental health in our daily lives and appreciated the speakers’ commitment to this cause. Dr. Bharath V presented a memento to Dr. P.V. Bhandari and Dr. Shubha H.S presented a memento to Rtn. Dr. Virupaksha Devaramane.

 

Ms. Thashwini (2nd year MBA, HR) rendered the vote of thanks and Ms. Priya Hebbar (2nd year MBA, HR) was the master of ceremony for the day. The event was attended by the members of Rotary Club Manipal, students of MBA and MCA of PIM and all the faculty members of PIM along with members of the non-teaching staff.
