Adarsha Hospital’s World diabetic day Jatha in association with Poornaprajna Institute of Management

World Diabetes Day is an annual event held on November 14th to raise awareness about diabetes, its prevention, management, and the challenges faced by individuals living with the condition. This observance was established by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the World Health Organization (WHO) in response to the growing concerns regarding the increasing health threat posed by diabetes worldwide. The primary goals of World Diabetes Day include advocating for the importance of diabetes education and prevention, improving healthcare accessibility for people with diabetes, and enhancing the understanding of the impact of diabetes on individuals, families, and healthcare systems.

The CSR Club of Poornaprajna Institute of Management had partnered with Adarsha Hospital and Adarsha Trust to commemorate World Diabetic Jatha on November 19, 2023. During the inauguration session, Dr. G.S. Chandrashekar, MD of Adarsha Hospital, addressed the attendees, emphasizing the global health epidemic of diabetes that affects millions of people worldwide. The prevalence of diabetes, including both type 1 and type 2, has been steadily increasing. World Diabetes Day serves as a platform to raise public awareness about diabetes, its risk factors, and the importance of prevention and management. Educational campaigns aim to empower individuals to make healthier lifestyle choices and seek early diagnosis. The program was attended by the CSR club coordinator, Santhosh N Prabhu, as well as all faculty members of PIM. The Jatha commenced at Govt District Hospital Ajjarkad and concluded at Adarsha Hospital. During the procession, street plays were performed to create awareness about diabetes, and more than 800 students participated in the Jatha.
