National Librarian’s Day Celebration

The Librarian’s Day celebration was held at Poornaprajna Institute of Management on 14th August 2023 to pay tribute to Padmashree Dr. S. R. Ranganathan’s legacy and highlight the significance of libraries and librarians in supporting education, research, and lifelong learning. Mrs Nalini G. I, Chief Librarian, Dr.Bannanje Govindacharya Memorial City Central Library, Udupi, and Mrs Ranjitha. C, Librarian, Dr.Bannanje Govindacharya Memorial City Central Library, Udupi were the guests for the program. The program was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries. Speaking on the occasion Mrs.Nalini highlighted the contributions of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan to the field of library science, uses and importance of public libraries. Mrs.Ranjitha C.  made a presentation on evolution of libraries,the digital transformation of information resources and how to access resources available inpublic digital libraries. Dr. Krishna Kothai, Professor Emeritus and Coordinator of PCRD addressed the gathering highlighting the importance of knowledge in one’s life and urged the students to make use of libraries. Dr.Bharath V, Director of the Institute, in his presidential remarks emphasised on the  benefits of  reading physical books and the long term impact on the brain in case of more dependence on digital resources. Mr. Purushotham, Librarian of the Institute welcomed the gathering, Ms.Preeti Nayak of 1st MBA proposed vote of thanks. Mr.Santhosh of 1st MBA Introduced the guests and  Ms. Navya of 1st MBA was the master of ceremony for the program. Ms. Reshma and Ms.Sharanya did the invocation. Mrs Sujatha G. L, faculty in charge of library committee coordinated the program.
