Workshop on Basics of Financial Planning and Investment Management organised by Finance Forum of PIM – Resource Person Mr. Harish B

Finance Forum of PIM organised corporate interaction session on the topic ” Basics of Financial Planning and Investment Management” on 6th August 2021 at Prajna Hall . Mr. Harish B the proprietor of Premier Investments ltd. Udupi, the Business Associate of Motilal Oswal Financial Services Limited was the resource person for the session. Mr. Harish B enlightened the students about the importance of financial planning and investment management among the students through practical examples. He explained the different avenues of investment, the return received by investing in different avenues, comparison of the different avenues on the basis of return, liquidity, risk involved etc. He explained in detail the importance of compounding interest component , Rule of 72 , importance of retirement planning, precautions to be taken while investing in stock market etc. He advised the students to invest early and invest for long term and to stay away from trading. Trading increases the wealth of brokers, but investing increases the wealth of the investors. Mere knowledge of technical analysis leads to failure and subsequent loss making in the share market. Understanding technical analysis, fundamental analysis, reading of business news papers along with a research mindset to make scientific investment results into success he noted. The workshop coordinated by Dr. Bharathi Karanth, the staff- incharge of the finance forum was presided over by Dr. Bharath V the Director of Poornaprajna Institute of Management, Udupi. Students of both first and second year MBA effectively participated in the discussion and clarified their doubts. Mr. Zakir of 2nd MBa designed the invitation. Ms. Prajna, Ms.Disha and Ms. Rakshitha invoked the blessings of almighty thereby making an auspicious beginning of the programme. Ms. Violine Lucyta D’souza was the master of ceremony of the programme. Ms. Hezel welcomed the gathering, Ms. susha gave a brief introduction of the chief guest and Ms. Tina D’souza proposed formal vote of thanks.
