Preliminary Meeting of Alumni at Poornaprajna Institute of Management

As a prelude to the Alumni reunion proposed to be held on 23rd September 2018, a preliminary meeting with the representatives of different batches of passed out students was held on 8th September 2018 at 3 pm at Poornaprajna Institute of Management. 

Mr. Pramod Shet the Vice President of the Alumni Association who also happens to be the first batch alumnus of PIM from 2006-2008, lead the discussions relating to organizing the alumni reunion on 23rd September.  Ms. Meenakshi and Ms. Madhulika representing the second batch students of PIM from 2007-2009, who also are working as Assistant Professors at Poornaprajna college, the sister concern of PIM assured of all cooperation from their side.  Ms. Manasa who works at State Bank of India  and Mr. Ganesh Shet who works at Kotak Mahendra securities representing the 2015-17  gave valuable and reliable suggestions regarding organizing the meet.  The old students decided to collect information about the email ids, phone numbers, current occupation, the achievements of the alumni etc. in an excel sheet and create a reliable database for the organization. 

Mrs. Bharathi Karanth IQAC team member and NAAC Coordinator addressed the students and the gathering. She highlighted the need for organizing the alumni meet and stressed that a good alumni network is essential to provide professional management education and is a step towards making PIM a highly sought after professional management institution of the region. 

Dr. Sureshramana Mayya, the Dean of Poornaprajna Institute of Management, expressed the steps taken in the direction of having an active , vibrant and functional website for Poornaprajna Institute of Management.  He gave valuable suggestions to the alumni about the activities which they can conduct under the auspice of the alumni association.  He stated that alumni can bring out an alumni newsletter or they can come out with best alumnus/alumna award for the student achievers among the alumni.  The alumni association can conduct reunions of different batches and alumni chapters at different places can also be opened he said. 

Dr. Bharath V, Director of the Institute highlighted that an active alumni association is required not just for the purpose of NAAC accreditation but also for having an effective placement network to support the present and also the past students of the organization. 

Dr. M. R Hegde, the former Director of PIM and currently the Joint Secretary of the institution addressed the students and requested for their cooperation in organizing the alumni meet. 

This preliminary meeting was attended by all the faculty members of the institution namely Dr. Naveen Kumar, the IQAC Co-ordinator, Mrs. Sujatha G.L,  Mr.Santhosh Prabhu, Mr. Shivanand Bhandarkar and Mr. Joe Ashwin Correa. 

Tea and snacks were served at the end of the meeting and the attender of the institution Mr. Sangamesh Asangi attended to all the institutional requirements.
