Cultural Club inauguration and Independence day celebrations at Poornaprajna Institute of Management Udupi.

Culture is essential to transform people into complete human beings.  It is just not academics but an understandingof each other ’s, adjustment and adaptation of each other’s way of living is intrinsic to the development of human beings opined Dr. Krishna Kothai, the inaugurator of Cultural Club ‘Poornotsava’ at PIM on 15thAugust 2018.  He gave a bird’s eye view of the different dance forms and music forms and threw light on different cultural activities that resulted in to the holisticdevelopment of human beings.  

The Cultural Club named ‘Poornotsav’ was inaugurated by Dr.Krishna Kothaya ,  Professor Emeritus and Coordinator of Poornaprajna Centre for Research and Development ,  on 16th  August,2018.  The programme was presided over by the director of the institution Dr.Bharath V Dr. Sureshramana Mayya, the Dean of PIM gave away the prizes to the prize winners of different competitions conducted on the eve of Independence day at PIM. 
The cultural club members had created a festive environment in PIM on the eve of the inauguration of the cultural club for the academic year 2018-19.  The cultural committee members had named the cultural club of this academic year as ‘Poornotsav’.  Students had decorated the prajna hall with flowers, handicrafts and balloons.  Outside the Prajna Hall, students of 2nd MBA namely Varun , Sooraj, Akshay and Jnanesh under the team leadership of Mr.Sundindhra Bhat had drawn an Indian Map fully decorated with flower petals which was a feast for the eyes of onlookers.  The festive atmosphere inside Prajna Hall was further supported by soft music which created altogether, a traditional festive ambience.  Students had conducted drawing competition and essay writing competition on account of the Independence Day celebrations.  Drawing competition was based on the theme of independence day.  First prize in drawing competition was shared between two students namely Sundhidra Bhat and Anusha. Second prize was also shared by two students namely Jnanesh and Abhishek .

The topic for essay competition was “My dreams for a strong independent India”.  The first prize was won by Roshney Quadros  and second prize was shared by Supreetha and Anusha. All the participants were given consolation prizes for participating in the events. 
In line with the PIM culture, the cultural club decided to give a warm welcome to Dr.Sureshramana Mayya who had recently joined the institution.  A floral welcome was followed by offering a small handmade memento by the Cultural Team to Dr. Mayya.   PIM team consisting of students and staff were delighted that the rich experience and knowledge of Dr. Mayya would facilitate the development of the institution.  Poornotsavteam also gave a floral welcome to the two new office staff, Ms.Jaya Bakshi and Mr.Sandesh Jogi and embraced them wholeheartedly to PIM family. 

Mrs. Renuka , one of the non-teaching staffs of the organization sponsored the distribution of sweets at the end of the programme and gave a sweet ending of the programme.  Cultural club honoredher with a small present and the whole PIM family wished her well.  The programme was attended by all the faculty members of PIM along with all the members of non teaching staff

The cultural team comprised of six students namely Ms.Sahana Rai, Ms. Jackeline Nikitha, Ms. Shwetha, Mr. Prithviraj, Mr.Sandeep, Mr.Subrahmanya, and the Faculty Coordinator Mrs. Bharathi Karanth.  Ms.Sahana Rai, women’s representative of the cultural club welcomed the gathering while Mr. Prathivaraj , boys representative proposed a formal vote of thanks at the end of the stage programme.  The stage programme was followed by some cultural programmes which was coordinated by Ms.Shwetha and Mr.Subrahmanya Hebbar .  Students affixed badges on the shoulders of all teaching and non-teaching staff members thereby giving a personalizedtouch to the informal programme.  Vandemataram was melodiously sung by Mr. Subrahmanya , while Ms Shwetha mesmerised the audience with her sweet voice.  Jackeline Nikitha sang a poignant devotional song which energised the atmosphere with a lot of positivity.  Roshni Quadorsand team enchanted the audience with their patriotic song which was a tribute to Indian army.  Their team comprised of Saniha, Annapoorna and Tasleen.   The ‘Prabhudevas of PIM’ a group of boys under the leadership of Prithviraj and Sandeep  dancedto the tune of Vandemataram . Renol, Sooraj, Akshay, Jnanesh, Trivikram were the other team members.   Ms.Sahana coordinated a spectacular semi-classical dance on the song Vandemataram..Prapthi, Mahima, Ashmitha  Krithika, Meghana, Nishitha and Sahana were the participants in this dance.  Mr. Krishna, the official photographer of PIM was present while Trivikram one of the students made a valuable contribution by capturing the sweet moments through his lens.  The programme concluded with all the members of PIM family singing the national anthem with the total patriotic spirit. 

Faculty Members of the Institute Dr. Naveen, Mr. Shivanand Bhandarkar, Mr, Ashwin, Mr Santhosh Prabhu and all the non-teaching fraternity of the Institute attended in the function.
