Village Panchayats have been the backbone of the Indian villages since the beginning of the recorded history. They play a vital role in the development of the villages and thereby contribute towards the overall development of our nation. In a bid to sensitise the MBA students of PIM, the PCRD- A Research Wing of PIM organised an extension programme as a part of the research project sanctioned by Azim Premji University , Bangalore. On 18th February 2017 20 students,under the guidance of Professor emeritus Dr. Krishna Kothai were taken to Manipur Grama Panchayat. Students were surprised to know the representative , regulatory, administrative and service or development functions performed by the Grama Panchayats. Students had an insight into the functioning of gramapanchayats in promoting health, safety, education, comfort , convenience, economic or social wellbeing of the inhabitants of the Panchayat area. 20 students were the beneficiaries of the programme organised by Dr.Krishna Kothai, the co-ordinator of PCRD , who was effectively assisted by the Project OfficerofPIM,Mr.Shashank.
