Poornaprajna Institute of Management celebrated Library day on the occasion of Padmashree Dr.S.R. Ranganathan’s 127th Birthday on 14th of August 2019. The program started with invoking the blessings of the Almighty by Miss Abja of II MBA. This was followed by lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries present on the dais. Miss Deeksha of II MBA welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief guest Prof. Harikrishna Rao, Librarian at Sanskrit College, Udupi to the gathering. This was followed by brief introduction of Padmashree Dr. S.R. Ranganathan and the relevance of Library day by Mr. Purushothama Gowda, the Librarian of the Institute.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest for the day Prof. Harikrishna Rao said that the contribution of the books in knowledge gaining is tremendous and it cannot be substituted through digital media. He highlighted the contribution of Padmashree Dr. S.R. Ranganathan to the Library Science and briefed the Audience about the various techniques introduced by him viz. Library Colon Classification, Five Laws of Library Science etc.
Another Eminent Personality Dr. Krishna Kothai, Director-PCRD shared his experience about his interaction with Library during his Research days and how it had helped him to complete his studies during those days. He urged the Students to visit the Library and enhance their learning and knowledge in various areas of their interest.
Dr. Bharath V., the Director of Poornaprajna Institute of Management congratulated the Library committee for hosting and conducting the Library Day and asked the students to make the best use of the library resources by visiting the Library during their free time.
Prizes were distributed to students who had won in the Essay competition held on the occasion of Library Day on the topic ‘Role of the Library in the Digitalized Era’.
Mr. Harshith of II MBA proposed the vote of thanks while Miss Fiona compered the program.
