Industry-Academia Interaction Session on the topic “Economic Slow Down and Impact of GST on Business ” was organised by ‘Fin -Insights’ the Finance forum of PIM on 14th November 2019 at Prajna Hall.

CA Narasimha Nayak, the President of Udupi unit of SIRC addressed the MBA students of Poornaprajna Institute of Management on the topic Economic slowdown and the impact of GST on business. He discussed at length the concept of economic slowdown, the difference between slow down and recession, causes of the present slowdown, findings of economic survey 2018-19, the present t position of the services sector, agriculture sector, industry and infrastructure, demographic trends and employment, micro medium and small enterprises, present scenario of real estate and automobile sector etc. He explained at length the factors affecting GDP, comparison of India’s GDP with the World’s GDP, the country-wise ranking of GDP and stated that India occupies number five position in the world with GDP 3.16 trillion. The difference between the old tax structure and GST, advantages of GST, the procedure for registration under GST, tax rates, GST Mechanism types of returns to be filed under GST, provisions of GST applicable from 1st April 2019, Direct taxation-budget highlights of 2019 were other parts of his discussion. This Industry-Academia interaction session organised by the Finance forum of PIM was presided by Dr. Bharath V. Dean Dr.Sureshramana Mayya, Dr Bharathi Karanth, Co-ordinator of the finance forum and Dr.Naveen Kumar KR. Associate Professor of the institution attended the session along with the active participation of both first and second-year MBA students. Ms Riya Denzil was the master of ceremony. Mr.Vishnu Upadhyaya of 2nd MBA welcomed the gathering, Mr. Harshith of 2nd MBA gave a brief introduction of the Chief guest and Mr. Shubhanga of 2nd MBA proposed the formal vote of thanks.
