Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights-Practices and Management

The Intellectual Property Rights Cell of Poornaprajna Institute of Management organised a workshop on the theme “IPR- Practices and Management” on 19th March 2024 at Prajna Hall.  Dr. Santhosh Prabhu, Faculty member of SDM Law College and Post-graduate studies and Research in Law degrees, Mangalore was the resource person for the session.  Prof.Sharika, a senior faculty member of SDM Law College, Mangalore was also present on the occasion. Dr. Prabhu stated that understanding Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) is essential for MBAs and MCAs as it helps them protect and leverage innovations and ideas in business and technology. In today’s competitive landscape, where innovation is crucial, IPR knowledge ensures that their ideas and creations are legally protected and can be monetized effectively, fostering innovation and driving economic growth.  Dr. Bharath V, Director of Poornaprajna Institute of Management presided over the program.  Faculty members of MBA and MCA along with all students of MBA and MCA courses attended the program.  Students of 1st year MBA which has two batches formed an IPRs team. Mr.Harshith boys’ class representative of the 1st MBA ‘A’ Section welcomed the gathering. Ms.Shreya Girls’ class representative of the 1st MBA ‘B’ batch introduced the chief guest, Ms.Deekshitha Girls’ representative of the 1st MBA ‘A’ section proposed a vote of thanks. Mr.Sharoon Shashidhar Suvarna, the boys’ representative of the 1st MBA ‘B’ batch was the master of ceremony of the program.  MCA class representatives Mr.Nithin Kamath and Ms. Sowmya offered a floral welcome to the Director and Guests.  Ms. Medha Prabhu and Ms.Divya  first  year MBA students played a pivotal role as the student coordinators of IPRs Cell. It was the excellent teamwork displayed by them that lead to a very fruitful workshop. Students clarified their doubts with the resource persons too.  The program was coordinated by Dr. Bharathi Karanth, faculty in charge of the Intellectual Property Rights Cell of PIM.
