Eco-clubs play an important role in creating environmental awareness amongst the future generation. It is a platform where we get knowledge about the environment. It also enables the students to be sensitive to environmental concern to tackle environmental problems.
Objectives of Eco Club
- To teach the environment-friendly habits in Student.
- To promote such activities which stop the degradation of nature and improve the condition of our natural environment.
- To inspire Students to understand birds animals and plants around them to consider them as citizens of the earth
- To help students to spread the message of conservation of nature.
- To make Student understand the importance of rainwater harvesting
- To help Student to indulge in the conservation of nonrenewable energy resources
- To promote the dependence on renewable resources.
- To help students to work towards the prevention of pollution of water air and soil
- To work together with local environmental agencies and NGOs
Activities of Eco Club.
- Plantation of saplings in the campus and in the neighbourhood.
- Maintenance of existing saplings.
- Documentation and preservation of medicinal plants.
- Â Trekking and nature walk.
- Environmental consciousness programme within the campus and in the locality.
- Rainwater harvesting awareness.Competitions like Quiz. Poster painting.
- Seminars and discussions.
- Organise rallies, marches, human chains and street theatre at public places with a view to spread environmental awareness {If possible on EARTH DAY (April 22), WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY or ECO DAY (June 5)}.
- Sensitize the students to minimize the use of plastic bags, not to throw them in public places as they choke drains and sewers, cause water logging and provide a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
