Fundamentals of Media Literacy Workshop by Factshala at Poornaprajna Institute of Management, Udupi.

In the contemporary digital landscape, digital literacy plays a crucial role in enabling individuals to navigate the internet safely and effectively. However, the proliferation of fake news and cybercrimes presents significant challenges to digital literacy. This delves into the interrelated issues of digital literacy, fake news, and cybercrimes, providing insights into their impact on society and proposing strategies to address these challenges.

In this regard, the ICT Forum of Poornaprajna Institute of Management, Udupi organized a workshop in collaboration with Factshala, India Media Literacy Network, and Google News. The workshop was led by Geethika Vashishasta, a media educator, and media literacy trainer, who provided a comprehensive overview of digital literacy, its core components, and live demonstrations and training to enhance students’ critical thinking abilities and enable them to identify fake news and digital frauds.

The program was presided over by Dr. Bharath, with Ms. Ashwini serving as the Master of Ceremony, Ms. Harshitha introducing the resource person and Ms. Sushmitha proposing a vote of thanks. Santhosh N Prabhu, the faculty in charge of the ICT forum, coordinated the program.
