MBA students participate in Extension programme on Intellectual Property Rights

 Students from Poonaprajna Institute of Management (PIM) actively participated in a One-Day Workshop on “Reimagining Innovation with a New Research Paradigm on Intellectual Property and Economic Growth,” organized by A J Institute of Management at the National Productivity Council/Mangalore Productivity Council. The workshop aimed to provide insights into the evolving landscape of intellectual property rights and their impact on economic growth, fostering research and innovation among participants.

PIM students took part in various academic competitions, showcasing their knowledge and analytical skills across multiple domains:

1. Conceptual Paper Writing:
Ambika and Suraksha represented PIM in the Conceptual Paper Writing competition. Their paper focused on the theme “Contemporary Issues and Challenges in Intellectual Property Rights,” where they discussed the current legal frameworks, emerging challenges, and their implications for innovation and public access.

2. Debate Competition:
Swaroop S Naik and P Abhishek participated in the Debate competition, engaging in a thought-provoking discussion on the topic:
“Should life-saving drugs and essential medical technologies be exempt from patent protections in the interest of public health?”
They presented compelling arguments, balancing the ethical concerns of public health with the need to incentivize innovation through patent protection.

3. Poster Presentation:
Sushmitha S represented the institution in the Poster Presentation segment on the theme “Innovate, Create, and Protect.” Her presentation highlighted the importance of fostering creativity while ensuring robust intellectual property frameworks to safeguard innovations.

The workshop provided an excellent platform for students to enhance their research capabilities, critical thinking, and public speaking skills. The active participation of PIM students reflects their commitment to academic excellence and their enthusiasm for exploring contemporary issues in intellectual property and economic growth.
