Dr.Nalina Ganapathi, Senior Administrative Secretary – Social Finance, Enterprises Department, International Labor Organization, Geneva, Switzerland, and Dr.Janani Ganapathi, Postdoctoral Researcher – Queensland University of Technology, Australia were the Resource persons for the day.
Dr. Bharath Florally welcomed Dr. Nalina Galinapathi- the key speaker for the day.
Dr. Krishna Kothai, Director- Poornaprajna Centre for Research & Development who was also present during the session welcomed Dr.Janani Ganapathi.
Speaking on the occasion Dr.Bharath V., Director of the Institute urged the students to build and develop management skills which have become mandatory if one has to survive in the ever-competitive corporate world.
In her opening comments, Dr. Janani said that Becoming a leader is not easy. It takes passion, personal reflective insight and resilience. Adding on she said that “Sound” Leadership is often recognized as being fundamental to achieving personal, individual and collective organizational
She made the students involve in multiple group activities and case discussions.
Further, she also highlighted the differences between a Manager and a Leader and how a student needs to be more of a leader than just a manager.
Another speaker Dr. Nalina Ganapathi, said that Communication in an organization is a dynamic transaction consisting of verbal and non-verbal messages and using both formal and informal channels. She stressed that the communication process can be affected by a number of factors including the medium selected in which one wishes to deliver the message, language issues, and cultural differences. She demonstrated the same by involving volunteers to perform the ‘Chinese Whispers’ in which all the students took part very actively.
Miss Roshni of second MBA introduced the speakers to the gathering while Miss Sheethal Salian compered the program.
