Poornaprajna Institute of Management on the auspicious occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanthi and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanthi visited Radio Mirchi station in Mangalore to inculcate the corporate culture and functioning among the students. 17 students from both HR and Marketing specialisations along with Faculty Mr. Shivanand M. Bhandarkar visited the Radio Station
The Industrial visit was focused on providing inputs to students regarding how the radio stations work. The main objective was to make students aware of the operations of a private FM Radio. Students were amazed to know how much groundwork and preparations has to be done by the employees such as RJ’s, sales team, copywriters, programmers etc. in order to sustain in a very competitive environment which is susceptible to change.
The 2 Radio jockey is namely RJ Ajay and RJ Anushree, were very cooperative, spontaneous and excellent in their way of communication, they shared their career experience from MNC to being RJ. Both have different genres to maintain based on the timings they handle their shows. They shared that the concepts like voice modulation and understanding the psychology of listeners are main ingredients for their success.
The staff there made students realise that Radio is not all about fun and entertainment but the number of efforts that are put forth to make the content exciting and generate revenue for the growth the company. Students’ were fortunate to see the studio of Radio Mirchi which is otherwise restricted to outsiders. The students gained lot of knowledge and had a clear understating regarding the functioning of private FM radio channel and its journey so far in the city of Mangalore.
