POORNA-ARAMBHA 5 – Day Induction and Orientation Programme held at PIM

The Poornaprajna Institute of Management (PIM), Udupi, organized a five-day Induction and Orientation Programme – “POORNA-AARAMBHA 2024” for the MBA and MCA students of the batch 2024-2026. The event, held from 16th December to 20th December 2024 at Prajna Hall, aimed to welcome and familiarize the new batch with the institute’s academic structure, culture, facilities, and opportunities. The programme was designed to provide insights into professional ethics, career development, and leadership.

Day 1: Inauguration and Orientation Sessions

The inaugural session commenced at 9:30 AM on 16th December 2024 with a prayer by Shruthi and Keerthan (2nd-year MBA students). Dr. Bharathi Karanth, Academic Coordinator, welcomed the gathering and introduced the purpose of the programme. The inauguration was marked by the lighting of the lamp, followed by the Chief Guest’s address by Mr. Nagaraja Hebbar, Proprietor & Chief Travel Consultant, Apna Holidays, Mangalore.

Following this, an Oath Taking Ceremony was conducted by Dr. P. S. Aithal, Director of PIM, who also introduced the students to the institute’s vision and mission. The session continued with an address by CA T. Prashantha Holla (Hon. Treasurer, Governing Council of PIM) and the Presidential Address by Dr. G. S. Chandrashekar (Hon. Secretary, Governing Council of PIM).

 The oath taken by newly admitted students was as follows: 

“We, the students of the MBA and MCA programs of Poornaprajna Institute of Management, solemnly pledge to uphold the highest standards of integrity, discipline, and dedication in our academic and professional pursuits.

  • We commit to respecting and valuing the knowledge and guidance provided by our mentors, peers, and the institution.
  • We vow to contribute to society by applying our skills, whether in managing businesses or developing innovative technological solutions, with a sense of responsibility and ethics.
  • We pledge to embrace lifelong learning, strive for excellence, and remain adaptable to the dynamic challenges of the global world.
  • We promise to collaborate, innovate, and lead with humility, inclusivity, and a spirit of service.

With determination and sincerity, we take this oath to honour our roles as future professionals and to make meaningful contributions to the world.”

The day continued with insightful sessions, including:

  • “Ethical and Moral Values: Foundations for Personal and Professional Success” by Dr. M. R. Hegde, Founder Director of PIM.
  • “Organization Overview: Innovations and Opportunities for MBA and MCA Programs” by Dr. P. S. Aithal.
  • “Sports Facilities and Opportunities at PIM” by Mr. Sukumar, Physical Director, PIM.

 Day 2: Core Values and Personality Development

The second day of the programme focused on core institutional values and personal development, with sessions such as:

  • “Development Insights” by Dr. Krishna Kothai, Emeritus Professor, PIM.
  • “Core Values at PIM: Guiding Principles for MBA and MCA Excellence” by Dr. P. S. Aithal.
  • “Library Facilities and Guidelines” by Ms. Amitha, Librarian, PIM.
  • “Personality Development and Corporate Etiquettes” by Kodancha.

An interactive icebreaker session was conducted by Mr. Shivananda Bhandarkar, Mr. Venkatesh Shetty, and Ms. Sneha, helping students build connections and ease into the new academic environment. The day concluded with an ERP Training Session conducted by DHI-PPCIM.


 

 

 

 

 

Day 3: Research, Stress Management, and Leadership

The third day focused on research and leadership skills. The sessions included:

  • “Importance of Research for MBA and MCA Students” by Dr. Bharath, Professor, PIM.
  • “Stress Management” by Dr. Vinay Prabhu.
  • “Lead Program on Leadership” by Dr. P. S. Aithal.
  • “Placement and Training Overview” by Mr. Shivanand M. Bhandarkar, Placement Coordinator, PIM.Another interactive icebreaker session was held to further strengthen student bonding.

    

Day 4: Specializations, AI, and Toastmasters Open House

On the fourth day of the induction programme, newly inducted MBA and MCA students were separated for their respective academic sessions. MCA students proceeded to their classrooms, while MBA students continued their orientation in Prajna Hall.

This day was dedicated to academics, focusing on an introduction to the curriculum and academic expectations. Dr. Bharathi Karanth, Academic Coordinator for MBA, and Prof. Venugopal Rao, Academic Coordinator for MCA, provided students with an overview of their respective programs. They outlined the curriculum structure, academic guidelines, discipline protocols, and key expectations.

Following this, faculty members introduced students to various subjects, highlighting the essential knowledge required, potential challenges, and the skills necessary for academic success. The session aimed to provide students with a clear understanding of their academic journey and prepare them for the challenges ahead.

The fourth day  was dedicated to academic specialization and professional development. Highlights of the day included:

  • Address by the Academic Coordinator – Dr. Bharathi Karanth.
  • Specialization Overview:
    • Financial Management – Dr. Naveen Kumar.
    • Marketing Management – Mrs. Sujatha.
    • Human Resource Management – Mr. Venkatesh.
  • “Leveraging Artificial Intelligence to Solve Business Problems” by Mr. Santhosh N. Prabhu.
  • “Alumni Association of PIM” by Mrs. Diana Saldanha.
  • “Toastmasters Club Udupi – Open House Programme” by Mrs. Shruthi Shenoy

Day 5: Health & Wellness, Administrative Formalities, and Campus Acquaintance

The final day of the induction programme focused on holistic well-being and essential administrative formalities. The day began with an insightful session by doctors from Muniyalu Ayurvedic College, who emphasized the importance of maintaining physical and mental well-being through a balanced lifestyle, proper nutrition, and stress management techniques. Following this, students completed various institutional formalities, including:

  • Opening bank accounts to facilitate financial transactions during their academic tenure.
  • Familiarization with faculty members and campus facilities, ensuring a seamless transition into the academic environment.
  • Uniform measurements and other logistical arrangements to maintain the institute’s professional decorum.

           

The Poornaprajna Institute of Management’s Induction and Orientation Programme – POORNA-AARAMBHA 2024 successfully provided a comprehensive introduction to academic life, professional development, and personal well-being for the incoming MBA students. Over the course of five days, students gained valuable insights from distinguished speakers, engaged in interactive sessions, and familiarized themselves with institutional facilities and expectations. The programme not only instilled confidence and enthusiasm among the students but also ensured they were well-equipped to embark on their academic journey with a clear sense of purpose. The emphasis on holistic learning, ethical values, and industry readiness set the foundation for a transformative educational experience. With the guidance of esteemed faculty, industry experts, and administrative support, the students are now prepared to embrace challenges, excel in their studies, and contribute meaningfully to the institute’s legacy.
