Practical Skills for Corporate Success: Insights from an Experienced Professional organized by PIM Alumni Association and Poornakash-Training and Placement Cell

On July 5, 2024, the Poornaprajna Institute of Management (PIM), Udupi hosted an insightful session on ” Practical Skills for Corporate Success: Insights from an Experienced Professional,” organized jointly by POORNAKASH the Training and Placement Cell of PIM and the PIM Alumni Association. The event was held in the II MBA Classroom and Harshaprada of the 2nd MBA served as the Master of Ceremony and Sushmitha, also from the 2nd MBA, commenced the session with a warm welcome speech. The guest of honor, Mr. Sanjay Shet, Manager-Commercial and Pricing at Mphasis, Bangalore, was introduced by Kavya from the 2nd MBA class. Prof. Venkatesh Shetty extended a floral welcome to Mr. Shet, adding a personal touch to the proceedings.

Mr. Shet, an esteemed alumnus of PIM, shared his extensive corporate experience, focusing on interview guidelines, resume building, the importance of technical skills and confidence, and the necessity of continuous learning. He also highlighted crucial aspects of time management, teamwork, and maintaining ethical standards in professional settings, using real-life examples to illustrate his points.

The interactive session saw active participation from students who posed questions on various topics, including the importance of project work during interviews, ethical issues in job changes, industry-academia collaboration opportunities, and common mistakes made by freshers in the corporate world. Mr. Shet’s responses emphasized the value of the discipline and work ethic instilled during his MBA days at PIM and advised students to go beyond the curriculum to become job-ready.

In recognition of his valuable insights, Prof. Shivanand Bhandarkar, Placement Coordinator of PIM, presented a memento to Mr. Sanjay Shet. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Diana Saldanha, Faculty Coordinator of the PIM Alumni Association, acknowledging the contributions of all participants and organizers.

The session was a resounding success, evidenced by the enthusiastic interaction between students and the resource person. It is anticipated that this event will foster new alumni collaborations, enhancing the institute’s academic and professional network. This session, pivotal in bridging the gap between academic learning and practical corporate skills, has undoubtedly prepared students for successful careers ahead.
