National Level Research Conference at Poornaprajna Institute of Management

Poornaprajna Institute of Management hosted a one-day national-level Research Conference on June 29, 2024, focusing on emerging trends in Management and Information Technology. The conference included paper presentations by research scholars and postgraduate students. The institute received approximately 60 abstracts and papers from faculty, research scholars, and students from various institutes and universities.

The program was inaugurated by Dr. G.S. Chandrashekar, the Chief Guest and Secretary of the Institute, who is also the Medical Director of Adarsh Hospital and Adarsha Group of Institutes, Udupi. In his inaugural address, he underscored the importance of research for both faculty and students. C.A. Prashantha Holla, the Hon. Treasurer of the Institute, served as the Guest of Honor at the conference.

Dr. K.V.M. Varamballi, former Director of Manipal Institute of Management, conducted the first session on “Emerging Trends in Management.” He emphasized the increasing relevance of management education in the current market environment, explaining that management education has become need-based and responsive to external changes. He discussed various models used in management education, including the Pragmatic model, Professional model, and Humanist model. Dr. Varamballi highlighted that the primary role of management schools is to transform the workforce into human resources, contributing significantly to national development. He stressed the necessity for management institutes and faculty to deliver quality education, enabling aspirants to adapt and thrive in a dynamic environment.

Dr. Karunakar Kotegar, Professor in the Department of Data Science and Computer Applications at Manipal Institute of Technology, led the second session on “Leveraging Artificial Intelligence to Enhance Educational Outcomes.” He discussed the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in improving educational outcomes and addressed concerns about AI potentially replacing human educators. Dr. Kotegar defined AI as the simulation of human cognitive processes by machines, capable of performing tasks such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and language translation.

Dr. Sriramana Aithal, Director of PIM and Academic Director of Poornaprajna Institutions, presided over the program. In his presidential remarks, he outlined the future plans of the Institute and introduced Poornaprajna International Publications to disseminate the institute’s research and publications.

 

Dr. Bharath V., the Research Coordinator, provided an overview of the conference theme. Dr. Bharathi Karanth, Associate Professor, welcomed the chief guests, resource persons, and attendees. Mrs. Priya, Assistant Professor, introduced the resource persons. Dr. Naveen Kumar, Associate Professor, delivered the vote of thanks. Mrs. Diana Saldanha, Assistant Professor, served as the master of ceremonies.
