Expert Talk on Entrepreneurship at FINSPARK 2K24 at PIM

The Finance Forum of Poornaprajna Institute of Management (PIM) hosted an expert talk on “Starting Steps of an Entrepreneur” as part of FINSPARK 2K24. The session was delivered by CA M. Sridhar Kamath, Partner at Kamath & Co., Chartered Accountants, Udupi. An excellent orator with in-depth knowledge, CA Sridhar Kamath provided valuable insights into the various aspects an entrepreneur should consider when starting a business.

He discussed the different forms of business organizations an entrepreneur can choose from, detailing the advantages and disadvantages of each. The talk covered seed funding types such as Series A, Series B, Series C, and Initial Public Offerings (IPO). He explained methods of equity valuation and regulatory compliances, including GST, income tax, labor laws, and trade licenses registration as a startup. His detailed discussion on these topics not only captivated the audience but also made the complex matters clear to all the students.

CA Sridhar Kamath also offered valuable investment advice, cautioning students against trading in futures and options due to the limited chances of earning money through these instruments.

The session was part of the valedictory ceremony of FINSPARK 2K24, organized by the Finance Forum of PIM in association with KMV Financials LLP. The event was presided over by Dr. Sreeramana Aithal, Director of PIM. Following the guest lecture, prizes were distributed to students who excelled in various competitions such as virtual trading, bidding, and business quizzes, organized by the second-year MBA finance specialization students.

The program was attended by both MCA and MBA students of PIM. Ms. Dhruthi conducted the program, Mr. Pavan welcomed the gathering, and Ms. Deeksha proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Ashvini MK presented the report on the activities conducted by the Finance Forum, and Ms. Harshitha announced the list of prize winners. The invocation was rendered by Ms. Reshma, Ms. Navya, and Ms. Sharanya.

Mr. Adarsh Poojary and Ms. Ashwini MK, student coordinators of the Finance Forum, oversaw the program under the guidance of Dr. Bharathi Karanth, the staff in-charge.
