Poornaprajna Institute of Management’s Yuva Prajna 2024 Hosts Union Budget Analysis

On July 26, 2024, the Poornaprajna Institute of Management (PIM) hosted an in-depth Union Budget Analysis as part of its new initiative, Yuva Prajna 2024 – Youth Voice of PIM. MBA and MCA students from PIM conducted a sector-wise analysis of the Union Budget, with six teams of four students each evaluating the budget’s provisions. The students praised the budget as structurally contributory and visionary, deeming it a budget for the future.
The analysis was further enriched by a panel of experts: Mr. CA Lokesh Shetty, Chartered Accountant; Dr. Vijayendra Rao, Board Director of Udupi Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Mr. Lakshman Shenoy, Advocate, Udupi; Mr. SG Kurya, Senior Correspondent, Vijayakarnataka newspaper; and Dr. Vinay Prabhu, Emeritus Professor of PIM.
Mr. CA Lokesh Shetty provided a concise and analytical insight into the taxation and GST aspects of the budget. Dr. Vijayendra Rao highlighted the budget’s positive and negative aspects through a humorous presentation that captivated the audience. Mr. Lakshman Shenoy offered a critical analysis, identifying several weak points within the budget. Mr. SG Kurya presented a detailed comparison with the previous budget, and Dr. Vinay Prabhu discussed the human side of the budget.
The program was presided over by Dr. Sreeramana Aithal, Director of PIM. Organized by the MBA students of the Finance Forum under Yuva Prajna – Youth Voice of PIM, the event provided a platform for youth perspectives on business, industry, and policy matters affecting India. The experts’ diverse insights added depth to the analysis of the Union Budget 2024.
Ms. Ashwini MK coordinated the program, while Ms. Reshma and Ms. Sharanya rendered the invocation. Dr. Bharathi Karanth, Academic Coordinator of the institute, welcomed the gathering, and Ms. Harshaprada delivered the formal vote of thanks.
