Faculty development Programme on “Social Entrepreneurship, sustainability and Rural Engagement” was held at Poornaprajna Institute of Management on 12th November 2022. Prof.Chetan Chittalkar, Director of Mahatma Gandhi National Council for Rural Education was the resource person for the FDP. Dr.G.S. Chandrashekar, Secretary of the governing council of PIM and the Medical Director of Adarsha Hospital was the chief guest of the programme.
Rural people are energetic, sincere and have good inquisitiveness. Further they can perform any task with exceptional ability. Hence it is important to promote rural engagement and social entrepreneurship among the rural youth and rural areas need to give higher importance said Dr.GS Chandrasekhar, in his presidential speech.
Entrepreneurship should not be a forced one but should be passion for people opting for it. It should become a part of one’s life. It is important to share knowledge with one another to promote entrepreneurship said Prof.Chetan Chittalkar, Director of Mahatma Gandhi National Council for Rural Entrepreneurship. He explained in depth about the counselling procedures. He said counselling is not giving advice to others, giving solutions and it is not a disciplinary process. He explained onion model, how self-concept, values, beliefs, perceptions, attitude and overt behaviour are inter connected. He explained a mentoring model, showing how relationship building, developing plans, organising activities and reviewing outcomes by the mentor would lead to successful mentoring. Along with that he highlighted the requirements of mentoring.
Dr.Krishna Kothai, Professor Emeritus of PIM and the coordinator of Poornaprajna Centre for Research and development, emphasised the need for conducting such programs for promotion of social entrepreneurship .
Earlier, the programme banner was released by the Deputy commissioner of the district Mr. Kurma Rao. This Faculty Development Programme was attended by more than 30 participants from the neighbouring institutions of Udupi district.
To facilitate further entrepreneurial development and sharing of knowledge, a Memorandum of Understanding was entered into between Poornaprajna Institute of Management and Mahatma Gandhi National Council for Rural Entrepreneurship.
This faculty development programme was hosted by Dr. Bharath V, the director of Poornaprajna Institute of Management, Udupi. Dr. Bharathi Karanth, the coordinator of Entrepreneurship Development Club of PIM, conducted the programme. Ms.shreya Prabhu, Ms.Pavana, Ms.Srujana, Ms.Deeksha and Mr.Savin Kumar S, the second year MBA students helped in organising the programme. Faculty members and non-teaching staff of Poornaprajna Institute of Management also participated in the programme.
