Internet and its Impact on the Value System by Fr. Richard D’souza

The Human Resources Club – ETICA  of Poornaprajna Institute of Management conducted a guest lecture on ‘Internet and its Impact on Value System’ on 03rd September 2019 for the  MBA students. The event aimed to build awareness on the usage of the internet and how to safeguard the privacy of internet users.

Speaking on the occasion Fr. Richard D’souza of Canara Communication Centre, Mangalore said that the quantum of internet users is increasing on a daily basis and in a country like India, such growth rate is alarming. He enlightened the students on using cellphones that do not comply with the SAR regulations. Displaying videos on the ill effects of the radiation caused through cellphones, he said that excessive usage of cellphones could have a negative impact on the human body and its functioning.






He also requested the students to maintain their online reputation which is very important in deciding the future and career as most of the companies use social media as a reference check tool. 
The speaker also gave insights on some harmful apps that are prevalent on the web today which could steal data and use it against the users.




Quoting live examples on the misuse of technology he addressed the students on various interesting topics like internet security, phishing, hacking, skimming and fraudulent online transactions.









Dr Bharath, Director of the Institute presided over the function and said that these days the Internet and technology has taken over the value system where people are giving too much importance to the technology and ignoring human and social values which have been flowing from our ancestors traditionally.


Miss Delina compered the programme, while Ms.Sharon welcomed the gathering and introduced the guest.  







In the valedictory session, Dr. Sureshramana Mayya, Dean of the Institute, presented a memento to Fr. Richard D’souza. 

Mr. Joe Ashwin Correa, Faculty of the Institute coordinated the programme. All the faculty members of the institute and students attended the session.
