Poornaprajna Centre for Research and Development a Research Wing of PIM in association with Karnataka Bank organized the Inauguration of the Expert Lecture and Series of Programmes under the CSR initiative of Karnataka Bank on 8th March 2019 at Prajna Hall of Poornaprajna Institute of Management, Udupi. The programme was inaugurated by His Holiness Shri Shri Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji, the President of Sri Admar Mutt Education Council and the Chairman of all the Poornaprajna Group of Institutions. Mr. B.G.Samaga, Assistant General Manager, Regional Office, Karnataka Bank presided over the programme. Mr. Devananda Upadhyaya, Retd. General Manager, Syndicate Bank Udupi, Dr.G.S.Chandrashekar, the Secretary of the Governing Council of PIM were the Guests of Honour for the Programme. Dr. Bharath V Director of PIM and Dr. Krishna Kothai Professor Emeritus and Co-ordinator of PCRD escorted the dignitaries on to the dais and sought the blessings of his holiness Swamiji by offering fruits to him. The inauguration was followed by the blessings of his holiness Swamiji where he stated that the practical experience which students gain by associating with the project activities of PCRD, the expert guidance given by Prof.Krishna Kothai, the association with the corporate world including the banking sector, along with classroom teaching would enrich the potential of PIM students. The programme began with the invocation of the Almighty . A team of students comprising of Mr.Subrahmanya Hebbar, Mr.Shyamasundar, Mr.Sachin, Mr.Prashanth Pai rendered the invocation. Dr.Bharath V welcomed the gathering .Dr. Krishna Kothai gave an introductory speech. The whole programme was co-ordinated by Ms.Jackeline Nikitha of 2nd Year MBA

Ms. Mahima of 2nd year MBA introduced the Chief Guest of the Programme Mr.B.G.Samaga. Hailing from padubelle , sri samaga is both an accomplished academician and a banker. He is an m.com , CAIIB with a PG Diploma in HRD. He has served Karnataka bank in various capacities at places such as Ahmedabad, Hubli, Delhi, Bangalore, and Mumbai.
Sri Samaga is the Assistant General Manager and the Udupi Regional Head of the Bank. He has served at the branch level of the bank for 12 years and two years at the regional level.
An award-winning manager for the MDRT insurance business, Sri samaga has visited the USA twice apart from Canada, Bangkok and Kathmandu.
Known for his warmth and friendly nature, Sri Samaga has contributed uniquely for the growth and development of Karnataka bank in particular and the public in general.

Ms. Alwina Andrade of 2nd year MBA introduced the Chief guest of the Programme Mr.Devananda Upadhya. Shri Updhyaya is a senior banker with four decades of wide and varied experience in syndicate bank. He has served all the major verticals of the bank at different parts of the country including an overseas assignment.
Shri Upadhyaya has seen a meteoric rise in the banking ladder serving different departments as chief manager, assistant general manager, deputy general manager, and general manager. He is known for his hard work and very distinct approach to various issues. He has earned an enviable name as a public relations person all through his career. He was a national level JC trainer and has conducted very many training programmes. As a banker, he has served in various places including Calcutta, Delhi Udupi Manipal etc. He was general manager, national exchange company Katar. Shri Upadhyaya is known as a disciplinarian and a person with a meaningful vision. Apart from the bank, he has served other institutions as well. He has served various committees as member /chairman and contributed uniquely to those committees. Shri Upadhyaya has left footprints wherever he has served.

The Expert Lecture on the topic Campus to Corporate (C2C) delivered by Mr. Devanand Upadhyaya, Retd. General Manager Syndicate bank, Udupi. He spoke about the interview dos and don’ts, the methods of preparing for interview and how they should behave in the corporate world. He also shared his corporate experience and threw light on how to build public relation while you are in a corporate world. He emphasized on self-discipline, body language, group dynamics, behavior and also ME 2 WE concept.
At last, he concluded with one note that the secret of success is the dedication and hard work that leads to the ultimate result. The session was attended by both first and second year MBA students along with the Director and all the faculty members of PIM.
