The programme was presided over by Dr. Bharath V, the Director of PIM who acknowledged with gratitude the intellectual guidance received from Dr. Shreemathi S Mayya in conducting his M.Phil. and Ph.D. research work. Dr. Bharathi Karanth , staff Co-ordinator of the programme thanked Dr. Srimathi Mayya for spending her valuable time enlightening the students with her rich knowledge and experience in the field of research and also for conducting the programme without taking any honorarium from PIM. She also thanked Dr. Sureshramana Mayya , the Dean of PIM , who is also the husband of the resource person for being instrumental in organizing the workshop for the benefit of both students and staff of PIM. The programme was attended by Dr. Sureshramana Mayya , the Dean of PIM and also the faculty members and students of both first year and second year MBA. The student coordinators namely Mr. Akshay US was the master of ceremony of the programme, Miss Aadya Bhat welcomed the gathering, Mis Aquilla Lora Perira gave a brief introduction of the Chief guest and Miss Amrutha proposed the formal vote of thanks.

Adherence to ethical guidelines and codes of conduct result into high quality research : Dr. Shreemathi S Mayya
Staff and MBA students of Poornaprajna Institute of Management were witness to a top-notch workshop on the topic “Research proposal writing and use of SPSS in Data Analysis “ by Dr. Shreemathi S Mayya , Professor and Deputy Director of Statistical Bureau, Department of Statistics , Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal on 27th Saturday 2018 at Prajna Hall. Dr. Shreemathi S Mayya, explained in detail about the different dimensions of research proposal writing and made an in-depth explanation of the different steps involved in research report writing with number of practical examples of the research works. Dr. Mayya also demonstrated the application of the use of SPSS software in social sciences researches. She explained the various measures which can be taken to prevent plagiarism in research work and stressed on the ethical guidelines to be followed in research work. The presentation by Dr. Shreemathi S Mayya was followed by an active involvement and interactions by the students of both first- and second-year MBA’s. Students raised various questions about pursuing research work and writing the research reports. The broader areas of questions surrounded around different topics like prevention of plagiarism in research, queries on conducting survey-based researches, referencing styles used in research works etc. Dr. Shreemath S Mayya clarified all the doubts of the students by touching upon even the minute details required to be pursued in ethical research work. The workshop which covered the half day of Saturday became a fruitful ‘food for thought session’ for both the teaching staff and students of Poornaprajna Institute of Management, Udupi.
